Purpose

Department of Health and Human Services awarded $624K to Newark Central School District for Southern wayne county mental health awareness training project - the three districts of the southern wayne county community schools mental health awareness training program will train the trainers of school staff (teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, aides, etc.) and community agency staff who work with at-risk youth in therapeutic crisis intervention (tci) and youth mental health first aid (ymhfa). we will also partner with the wayne county veteran service agency to ensure our programs’ impact on veterans and their families. in addition, we partner with local law enforcement agencies and an early childhood program to create a culture of trauma informed practices within our community. the…
